Moore-Jones Gallipoli Centenary statue takes shape…

What a memorable week: first came the black polished concrete plinth (estimates 2.5-4 tonnes), then the seven tonne chunk of white stone gifted by the Turkish Government and the City of Canakkale, and mounted on the Victoria Street plinth median in the south end heritage precinct… supported on a concrete base with four metre deep piers. We have attempted to keep disruption minimal but have required some street closures…
Such generosity from donors and all the construction companies and people involved, and local businesses so supportive…and mounting interest from passers-by and Media.

Watts & Hughes (Mark Gutry) is a great company to work with, and project manager Maurice Middleton and site manager Andy Etchells are gems. So many involved:
